Darius Rucker arrested in Tennessee for minor drug offense
Country star Darius Rucker was arrested in Tennessee for a minor drug offense, Fox News Digital has learned.
The 57-year-old singer was taken into custody Thursday in Williamson County, Tennessee, according to a Williamson County Sheriff's Office public information officer.
Rucker was arrested for two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state's vehicle registration law.
He was booked in the Williamson County Jail around 1 p.m. and released on $10,500 bond about an hour later.
DARIUS RUCKER ADMITS HE'S FELT ‘LIKE A FAILURE’ POST-DIVORCE
Rucker's attorney, Mark Puryear, issued a statement to Fox News Digital after his client's arrest.
"Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges," Puryear said.
In December, Rucker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Grammy-winning country star also released his eighth solo album, "Carolyn’s Boy," in 2023. The record is a tribute to his late mother.
Rucker, who built success in the country music industry after leading Hootie & the Blowfish for more than three decades, told Fox News Digital at the time he doesn't feel he's truly reached the pinnacle of his career.
"I think the thing that keeps me working so hard is I always feel like I haven't done enough," he said.
Rucker also revealed to People magazine last year his two youngest children are interested in following in his footsteps despite him joking he wanted them to be doctors or lawyers.
The singer and his ex-wife share two children, Daniela and Jack, and Rucker has a daughter, Carolyn, from a previous relationship.
He said that even with his success and fame, they still see him as a typical dad.
"They truly don’t give a s--- what I do for a living. I’m nothing special. I’m their dad," he told the outlet. "They love my music, and they think it’s cool, but they’ll still be at a show, and I’ll walk out of the back of my bus, and they’ll go, ‘Dad, are you going to wear that?’ They love letting me know that I’m a dork, and I love them for it."
During the interview, Rucker opened up about his split from his wife of 20 years, Beth Leonard.
"That stuff hurts, and you feel like a failure," Rucker told People of their split. "But we’re still a family. A piece of paper is not going to change that."
Rucker noted they’re "not officially divorced yet."
"We’re still a family, and that’s all because Beth is awesome," he said. "She knows it’s the best for the kids, and she’s a great human being."
